Revisit the whole of Kendrick’s ‘The Heart’ series

Kendrick gave us the first taste of what he’s been working on since To Pimp A Butterfly last night.

The Heart Part 4 dropped on iTunes and all major streaming services. Adding to a series of one-offs Kendrick has been running since 2010.

The first was a YouTube freestyle, uploaded by Top Dawg Entertainment in April 2010.

Then, later that year, The Heart Pt. 2 featured on his O.verly D.edicated mixtape. For this chapter, Kendrick rapped over a version of A Piece Of Light by The Roots. The hook is performed by NYC vocalist Dash Snow.

Part three arrived in 2012, landing on SoundCloud just days before the game-changing good kid, m.A.A.d. city. It’s a fittingly stunning precursor to the album.

Fast forward to 2017 and Trump, Drake (?) and the competition fall under Kendrick’s gazed for the fourth instalment. Most excitingly, he seems to make it clear that, on 7 April, Kendrick season starts all over again.
