Wes Baggaley

The Bottom Heavy resident delivers an hour of delectable house pumpers in his riotous Crack Mix.

As Pride in London approaches, one of the UK’s most beloved selectors of raw and unhinged bangers steps up for our mix series. Between his residency at Dalston Superstore (along with fellow underground champion Dan Beaumont), famed appearances at Glastonbury’s NYC Downlow and regular masterful shows on Rinse FM, Wes Baggaley has cemented his position at the centre of the UK’s queer club scene and the wider world of partying.

Speaking on the links between pride, queer culture and music, Baggaley says “the house music that I love was born in LGBTQI+ communities,” plain and simple. “I play this music all the time. I live and breathe it. Sometimes it’s fashionable; sometimes it’s not. I really don’t care about that.”

His set for us is as true to these simple facts as one could hope, consisting of pure, unadulterated dancefloor heat. Classics by Moodymann and Chez Damier rub shoulders with deeper cuts, all the while evoking the kinds of loose, joyous abandon that the best clubs always manage to channel. Listen and try to sit still, we dare you.
